Jesus Kept the Feast of Tabernacles John 7:2-14 |
|
Jesus observed the Feast of Tabernacles during His life and we are to follow His example. His attendance at the Feast of Tabernacles is recorded in John 7:2-14.
Jesus brothers were attempting to goad Him into making a big splash and seek his fame at the Feast of Tabernacles. The Feast of Tabernacles was a time of instruction in God's word which would give Jesus an excellent venue for showing off His amazing wisdom, knowledge and a few miracles! Jesus declined their advice. Jesus also said that he was not going up the Feast of Tabernacles with them but would stay behind in Galilee. Jesus Teaches During The Feast of Tabernacles
However, neglecting to keep God's commanded Holy Day festival was not an option for Jesus. So, after His brothers left he went up secretly on His own to observe the Feast of Tabernacles at the place where God put His name. Observing the Feast of Tabernacles is an important command of God that Jesus obeyed and so should we. It is also worth noting that Jesus did show himself publicly later during the Feast of Tabernacles to teach. This time of teaching and instruction in God's word is still an important part of observing the Feast of Tabernacles for Christians today. |
